Investigation Procedures: The goal of a building investigation is to identify and solve indoor air quality complaints in a way that remediates an unhealthy condition, prevents them from recurring and also avoids the creation of other problems. To achieve this goal, it is necessary for the investigator(s) to search the site for conditions that would support or initiate microbial growth. Environmental Factors Measured:
A 30-point checklist which was developed over the years, is completed on-site. This is used to help locate any existing mold, mildew, yeast or bacterial growth. The site inspection also includes an all encompassing remediation plan and professional service cost. Recommendations for long term abatement including HVAC modifications or additional equipment needs are also provided. HVAC Inspections:
A complete inspection of the HVAC system is made. This can determine if there is evidence of fungal growth inside the unit, excessive moisture, elevated levels of organic particles or other design/installation problems which could support fungal amplification. All system filters are evaluated for integrity, fit and application. Air flow rates and exhaust flue capacity are measured. An analysis of the air flow as to CO and CO2 content can be provided. Possible carbon black (soot) content testing is available. Call for details and pricing. Inspections Cost: Residential $150.00 Commercial $250.00 (Price may vary based upon size or multi-floor facility) Indoor Air Quality Sampling:
IAQ testing is performed to determine the extent of a bioaerosol (airborne allergenic) content in ambient air. The content and quality of the indoor air is compared to the outdoor air to determine if there are amplification points inside the building. A laboratory report is written listing the concentration and genus of each mold and bacteria (to genus) detected in the samples. An interpretation of these results is made by a qualified mold remediation specialist. A health concern profile is included for each mold detected, as reference material to share with a qualified medical professional. Time required for laboratory results is 5-7 days. Total spore and particle count identification
can be provided using an Air-O-cell collection process. Bulk sample collection
and swab sampling for microbial content are other available sampling methods. Cost: $125.00 each sample with laboratory report and interpretation |
